We recognized the unique opportunity created by the housing crisis and acted upon it in a bold way. Our disciplined market and asset selection strategies created a concentrated portfolio of valuable assets with strong future growth prospects. We then renovated, leased and stabilized over 30,000 homes across our targeted market footprint, improving homes, neighborhoods and providing families with high quality housing options along the way. We attracted some of the best talent in the real estate arena and developed unique and highly scalable leading-edge technologies that embrace our customers, enable our employees and help us produce steadily improving and predictable results. The January, 2016 merger of our two predecessor companies, Colony American Homes and Starwood Waypoint Residential Trust, demonstrated the effectiveness and scalability of our combined platform.
Atlas, our proprietary technology platform, is a web-based, mobile-friendly and highly scalable software system with functionality across multiple departments, including Acquisitions/Dispositions, Leasing, Construction & Maintenance and Asset Management. Atlas enables our associates to be more efficient by being fully integrated with the technology systems of over 40 of our outside vendors. It also engages our residents by providing a mobile-enabled lease application and completion process, a seamless online rent payment capability, and a service portal with detailed self-help videos. Atlas is revolutionizing the single-family rental industry.
Our asset management and investment teams are armed with experience and technologies that continue to find attractive yielding investments across multiple channels. Unique to our industry, we have a dedicated revenue management team which focuses on optimizing revenue by evaluating market conditions, competitive sets and submarket-specific portfolio performance. This enables us to effectively manage lease expiration schedules by individual market according to seasonally adjusted pricing and consumer demand.
